For many routine actions, such as installing new software and running Windows updates, your computer must be restarted.  The term “soft reset” can also refer to restarting the computer.  There are several ways to restart Windows correctly on this site.

Some software issues can be resolved or changes made to the computer can be applied by restarting the machine.  To avoid unnecessary computer problems, restart your computer properly.  There are two more approaches besides the standard one: start the machine from the command prompt and restart it by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del.

## Ways to Restart Your Windows Computer

### Use Start on screen button

click on the **To start** button    in the lower left corner of the screen.  You can also press the Windows key on your keyboard to open the **To start** **menu**.

choose the **Power** **icon**.

When you **click** The power button will give you the option to put your computer to sleep, restart it or shut it down.

### Use Ctrl + Alt + Delete

On your computer keyboard, press and hold the control (**Ctrl**), alternate (**Alt**) and delete (Del) keys at the same time.

Release the keys and wait for a new menu or **window** appear.

In the lower right corner of **screen**click on the Power icon.

Select between Off and **Restart**.

press and hold this button until your computer shuts down.

Wait until you hear the computer's fans turn off and your screen goes completely black.

Wait a few seconds before pressing and holding the power button **button**    to start your computer normal **start**.

### Use the Start Menu

Click the Start icon on the taskbar or press the Win key to open the Start menu.

Click on the power icon at the bottom **right** **corner**.

Select Restart from the menu that appears.
