With its Digital Legacy Program, Apple wants to partially solve this problem, allowing users to specify legacy contacts who, in the event of death, can gain access to data stored in their Apple account.

## How to    to define up an inherited contact

Open the Settings app.

Tap your name at the top.

Choose password and security.

Tap the Inherited Contact option.

Now choose Add Inherited Contact and follow the instructions.

Share  the unique passcode with your inherited contact by text message or print it.

## How to    remove a legacy contact on iPhone

Removing an inherited contact is as simple as adding one.  Here it is how to Knife.

Tap Inherited Contact.

Tap the name of the legacy contact you want to remove.

Tap Remove Contact.

## How to    access iPhone data after the death of a loved one

Go to the Digital Legacy - Request Access page.

Click “Request Access” and enter your Apple ID or provide the requested contact information.

Follow the instructions on the website to verify your identity, enter your access key and upload your death certificate.

Once Apple has reviewed and approved your request, you will receive an email with details such as the specific Apple ID for your loved one's legacy account contact.  You will then be asked to re-enter your passkey and confirm your contact information.  Then you need to create a password and set up two-factor authentication for the old Apple ID contact.  Once you've done all of this, you can use the contact's old Apple ID to access your loved one's Apple account.
