## How to Take Screenshots in Recovery Mode on Android Device - Guide

Screenshots work as well as any valid evidence of anything.  It is well known that taking a screenshot on Android is as simple as pressing the volume down key and the power key at the same time.  However, if you want to take a screenshot of your Android while it is booting, you may not be able to do so using the keyboard shortcut above.  Also, Android has three custom recoveries, but you can't take screenshots of them at boot time.  This sums up up Android recovery mode prevents you from taking screenshots or copying errors. ## Taking screenshots in recovery mode

Once in recovery, follow the steps below:

Connect your device to your PC using the cable that came with it.  If a prompt appears on your PC saying it is installing drivers, let it do that first.

Download the recovery screenshot tool and extract all your files to your desktop.  It will be a convenient place for you to easily find the files when you need them.

Double-click the file called “RUNrs.bat” that you just extracted to your desktop.  It will launch the tool for you to use.

The first screen should ask which type of configuration you would like to use.  As you are a novice user, press “1” on your keyboard and it should allow you to continue.

The next screen asks you to enter your device's screen resolution.  If you don't know, you can read our article that talks about How to read your phone's specifications.  After entering the width and height, press Enter.

What it will do now is pull all possible screenshots from your device to your computer.  It will have created a new folder on your desktop named “Pixel Formats”.  Just go into the folder and check out all the screenshots it took.  Write down the name of the screenshot that looks best.  Press Enter on the tool and it will show the next screen.

On the next screen, choose the first option that says “1 – You see your image…”.

Now enter the name of the screenshot you noted in Step 6 above.  Make sure you don't type the image extension, ie if the name is “rgb565.png”, just type “rgb565”.  Then press Enter.

The tool has now been configured to take screenshots of your device in recovery mode.  On the next screen,
