Apple recently released Dark Mode - an alternative color scheme that darkens the user interface.  In this blog post, I'll show you how to disable dark mode in your app until you can add support for it.  Whenever you develop a new app or plan to maintain your app in the future, you should make plans to support Dark Mode.  The dark mode introduced in iOS 13 looks great as it reduces eye strain and offers better readability in low-light conditions.

The dark look or design also helps to extend the iPhone's battery life.  Dark mode on iOS and iPadOS works system wide, meaning that all system apps as well as user installed apps (which support dark mode) adopt a dark theme when appearance is set to dark.

## How to    Turn Dark Mode On or Off - iOS Settings

Open Settings on your iPhone and tap Screen & Brightness.

Tap the dark mode selection.

Now, your Google app, Home app and others will automatically update to dark mode.  But based on our tests in October 2021, the Google Maps app didn't automatically switch to dark mode.  If you have the same experience, we will show you how to switch Maps to dark mode below.

Let's face it;  we can talk about Google Maps, Google Translate, Google Search even, but Google Play Store remains the most important app on your device.  Why?  Well, you use it to download all the other apps you need.

Whether you download new apps occasionally or are a daily Google Play visitor, you'll definitely want to play around with your favorite Android device's dark mode.

Start by opening the Google Play Store app, then tap the profile icon in the upper-right corner.

In the menu, find Settings and tap it.

Tap General.

Find the Theme option, tap on it and you can choose between Light and Dark.

There is a third option which will set the time according to your device's global dark mode settings.  Select your preferred option - everything is simple.

Open Keep Notes and tap the three vertical lines in the upper-right corner.

Tap Settings.

Open Google Drive and tap the three horizontal lines in the upper left corner.

Tap Settings.

Tap Choose Theme.

## How to    Enable or disable dark mode for Google Assistant

Run the Google Assistant app on your device.

Navigate to the bottom right corner of the screen.  You will see a More option with three dots, tap it.

On the next screen, select Settings and click General.  This will list many useful settings, among which you will find the Theme option.

Now, tap Theme and select whether you want the theme to be Light, Dark or go to System default.

Open WhatsApp and tap the three dots next to the search option in the upper right corner

From the drop-down menu, click Settings

Now, tap on the 'Chats' option and go to the View menu

Click 'Theme' option and tap 'Dark' option to enable dark mode while tapping 'Light' option to disable dark theme.

For automatic dark mode setting, click 'System default', which will apply dark mode only when phone dark mode is activated.
