## How to Use iPhone Cinematic Mode - Guide

It is a feature which is offered on Apple's standard Camera application.  This mode is all about depth of field shots and smooth transitions.  Cinematic mode uses multiple cameras at the rear and intelligently tracks subjects as they enter or leave the scene, applying a false depth-of-field effect not unlike Portrait mode.  The idea behind this is to emulate the pull focus effect and rich bokeh.  You can edit depth-of-field corrections after filming as you can significantly adjust your video without having to re-record it.

Video capture is limited to 1080p Dolby Vision HDR at 30 frames per second.  Cinematic mode is hardware-bound, so only iPhone 13, 13 mini, 13 Pro, and 13 Pro Max devices are currently supported.  The iPhone XS or XR and later, iPad Pro 12.9 inches (3rd generation / newer), iPad Pro 11 inches (1st generation / newer), iPad Air (3rd generation / newer), and iPad Mini (5th generation) / latest) can edit video in Cinematic Mode as long as they have been updated to iOS 15 or later.

## How to    Use cinematic mode when recording a video

launch the Camera app on your ‌iPhone‌ and slide the camera mode menu so that “Kinematic” is highlighted.

Line up the viewfinder so that your initial subject is photographed and the focal target of the lens, then tap the shutter button to start recording the video.

Allow another person or object to be at a different distance from the camera lens to enter the photo - your ‌iPhone‌ will automatically reorient when it locks on the new subject.  tap the shutter button again when finished capturing the video.

## How to    Adjust post-session cinematic mode focus

Open the Photos app on your ‌iPhone‌ and select some videos shot in Cinematic mode.

Tap Edit in the upper right corner of the screen.

Slide your finger along the clip coil at the bottom of the screen to find the part of the clip you want to edit.

Tap a different area of ​​the photo to change the focal point to a new subject.  Note that the icon in the upper left corner of the screen is now highlighted to indicate that Manual Tracking is enabled.

The dotted yellow line below the clip reel indicates the amount of time in the clip that the currently selected subject is tracked.  If you tap the circled point on the line, a trash icon will appear - tap it and the tracking of this subject will be removed.

Tap Done when you're satisfied with your changes.
