Amazon Fire TV interface update makes it easier to find free content

Amazon wants to make it easier for Fire TV users to find free streaming content. That’s why Amazon today introduces a new Free tab for customers in the USA. The top line of the tab lists some of the most popular free, ad-supported streaming applications. Among them, users will find curated movies and television shows from Amazon’s content partners.

The tab directs users to applications such as IMDb TV, Pluto TV, Crackle, and The CW as well as Twitch, Red Bull, PBS, and PBS Kids. Free content is divided into categories such as new, trend, and popular. And there will be a bottom row of news from the Fire TV news app.

There’s no question that it can be difficult to sort through all the available streaming services, so it might be helpful to have a tab that at least limits the selection to free content. According to Amazon, there are over 20,000 free movies and TV episodes on Fire TV, so the tab still has many options.
