Chris Pine, Star Trek's John Solo

John Cho of CNET headquarters.

Film search is a classic thriller made with Hitchcock's veins, but it is narrated in a modern way. Follow John Chow and his father who tries to find his missing daughter. To make the movie creative is to talk mainly about the screen of the daughter's mobile phone where he died.

The review of CNET in the search calls it "siege attack and very interesting". This independent movie has already won two awards at this year's Sundance Film Festival. It is the Alfred · P · Sloan Prize for the Audience Award and feature film on science or technology.

Mr. Cho visited CNET last week with collaborators, director Aneesh Chaganty and Sev Ohanian. We talked about how Chaganty persuaded Chaganty to join after first reversing the role, talking about the crazy business of making movies that only occur on the screen.

The search opens in a limited distribution on Friday. Here is an edited copy of our conversation.
