This morning, Facebook is facing the huge violence that hackers abused the security hole of the social network's general function to steal account information from 500 million users. The company is currently facing a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of California resident Carla Echavarria and Virginia resident resident Derick Walker. Both sides argue that the lack of Facebook's security has greatly increased the risk of identity theft caused by violations to them and other potential members.
This lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. According to the complaint, Facebook is guilty of deception due to illegal business practices, concealment, negligence, violation of California State law regarding customer records. Plaintiffs desire to be awarded legal damages and penalties to them and other class members, as well as credit monitoring services, punitive damages and compensation for legal fees.
