Apple Is Cracking Down On Gambling Apps

Apple is repressing the content of the money games in the App Store. The problem is that some of the applications taken in the crossfire have nothing to do with the game.

Several developers have noted on social networks that their applications – ranging from a Polish magazine to a game that allows you to send Xbox clips to friends – have been removed from the App Store as part of the purge.

The concerned developers have received a message from Apple saying that it is launching gaming applications in the App Store as part of an effort to “reduce fraudulent activity … and respond to government requests to fight against illegal online gambling activities “.

“Apple claims that these applications contain games of chance, but they do not reveal how they detected this,” said Simon Stovring, a Copenhagen-based developer based on a file-sharing application, Gifferent. say it BBC. “It seems like an unfortunate but honest mistake.”

Some of the apps that were removed as part of the cleanup process have since been restored – but not before worrying their developers.

International application of Apple

Gaming applications have been in the news recently. Recently, Norway has managed to convince Apple to ban all gaming applications from its local App Store.

Perhaps more particularly, Apple has also been the subject of controversy in China after iMessage users would have complained about there to be bombarded with spam messages. Much of this content was about gambling, which is illegal in China. Therefore, state-controlled media have accused Apple not to do enough to block this content.

Apple has not been revealed exactly what caused the current crackdown on the game application. Targeted media attention against Apple on one of its biggest markets (read: China), however? Yes, that would certainly help to explain it!
