PlayStation 5 is here finally

And here it is. Although Sony said that today’s PS5 event would be about games, it finally let the world take a look at the actual console. So far the specifications of the console and the DualSense controller were the only thing Sony had confirmed about the next generation of hardware.

The PS5 is striking, to say the least. As many expected in the wake of the controller, Sony used a mix of white and black for a two-tone design, leaving out the largely monochrome appearance of previous generations. The white encloses the main body, with the PlayStation logo in the top left corner. Sony’s own photos show that it can also lie horizontally.

And that’s not all. Sony also unveiled a number of accessories, including a matching Pulse 3D wireless headset, an HD camera, a media remote, and a stand for your DualSense. Moreover, there is a PS5 Digital Edition that throws away the optical disc drive and will probably be a bit less expensive.

Sony has waited until six months after Microsoft unveiled the Xbox Series X to unveil the PS5. But reportedly the console is going into production this month, so Sony definitely wanted to anticipate possible leaks. Nothing is said about pricing or about a fixed release date after the long-standing Holiday 2020 window, but you finally know what that damn thing will look like when it is under your TV.
