Samsung has announced the X Series NVMe SSD that supports Thunderbolt 3. Samsung's new portable X5 SSD has a bandwidth of 40 Gbps and can reach reading speeds of 2,800 MB / s, much faster than SATA portable SSDs. The price of the X5 portable SSD is 399.99 for the 500 GB model, 699.99 for the 1 TB model and 1,399.99 for the 2 TB premium version. It will be shipped as of September 3.
But because it is a Thunderbolt 3 player, laptop only USB support is not compatible. In order to use that possibility using X5, you need a recent high-end machine.

SSD is designed to handle 4K video editing, real-time 3D rendering, high resolution RAW files. You can transfer files up to 2300 MB / s. In other words, you can move a 20 GB file in just 12 seconds.
The shock-resistant metal frame should fall down to 2 meters. It has a shiny appearance, but anti-slip mat is included to prevent accidents. Samsung backs up the disk with a three-year limited warranty. It is 4.7 inches tall, 2.4 inches wide, 0.8 inches thick, slightly smaller than most flagship smartphones (even if it is thick).
