Google Goggles Is Finally Dead And Has Been Replaced By Google Lens

If you are a former Android user who remembers when dinosaurs ruled the Earth (and by the dinosaurs, we mean the Motorola DROID and the Nexus One) when you opened what was then called the Android Market you would have inevitably drawn your attention to an application called Google Goggles. Maybe it was the alliteration that attracted attention. The application was launched in December 2009 and Google has now updated it for the first time since 2014, just to announce its death.

The new Google Googles update explains that to learn about the objects around you, Google Lens is now available on some Android phones. Google Lens identifies famous sites, animals, and plants. You can use it to add events to your calendar, translate words, send e-mails to an address on a business card, and more.

RIP Google Goggles. For some Android users, this may have been the first application installed on a phone.
