Check tutorial of 7 Reasons Not to Jailbreak iOS, Courtesy of Apple
So after a lot of requests from our users here is a guide about 7 Reasons Not to Jailbreak iOS, Courtesy of Apple.
It only fits with a new iOS 7 jailbreak available that we’ll cover the other side of things; why you shouldn’t jailbreak at all. We have already mentioned it in this jailbreak guide that most users shouldn’t bother using the jailbreak at all, as common iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch owners are unlikely to take advantage of the result and just get into trouble. Hence, we do not recommend it for most users. That’s just our opinion, though, so who better to tell you that jailbreaking is a bad idea than Apple itself?
It should come as no surprise that Apple has never been a fan of jailbreaking iOS for a variety of reasons. These seven (six plus one = 7) points come straight from Apple’s support article covering the topic, highlighting issues that can be experienced that make Apple think jailbreaking is a bad idea, and why you don’t want an iPhone, iPad or iPod should touch jailbreak. They are:
Reasons not to jailbreak iOS
- Security vulnerabilities
- Instability of iOS and apps
- Shortened battery life
- Unreliable voice and data
- Disruption of services
- Inability to apply future software updates (iOS updates)
- Apple may decline service to jailbroken devices
Those interested in the topic should read Apple’s full Knowledge Base article, stating their full reasons for each specific case of potential issues that arise. We repeat their full text below, citing directly from Apple’s knowledge base article on the matter:
iOS is designed to be reliable and secure from the moment you turn on your device. Built-in security features protect against malware and viruses and help secure access to personal information and company data. Unauthorized changes to iOS (“jailbreaking”) bypass security features and can cause numerous problems with the hacked iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, including:
Security vulnerabilities: Jailbreaking your device removes layers of security designed to protect your personal information and your iOS device. If this protection is removed from your iOS device, hackers can steal your personal information, damage your device, attack your network, or introduce malware, spyware or viruses.
Instability: Frequent and unexpected device crashes, crashes and freezes of built-in and third-party apps, and data loss.
Shortened battery life: The hacked software has caused the battery to drain faster, shortening the operation of an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with one battery charge.
Unreliable voice and data: Interrupted calls, slow or unreliable data connections, and delayed or inaccurate location data.
Disruption of services: Services such as Visual Voicemail, Weather and Stocks are disrupted or no longer work on the device. In addition, third-party apps using the Apple Push Notification Service have had issues receiving or receiving notifications intended for another hacked device. Other push-based services such as iCloud and Exchange have encountered problems in syncing data with their respective servers.
Inability to apply future software updates: Some unauthorized changes have caused damage to iOS that cannot be repaired. This can cause the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to become permanently unusable when a future Apple-supplied iOS update is installed.
Apple strongly warns against installing software that hacks iOS. It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of iOS is a violation of the iOS end-user software license agreement and therefore Apple may decline service for an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch with unauthorized software installed.
Have you understood the 7th reason? It’s at the very end (our emphasis added): Apple may decline warranty coverage or any iPad, iPhone or iPod touch with an active jailbreak. This is a really important point to make because if you mess up the process and can’t fix the device by yourself, Apple can call the jailbreak for not providing warranty service and send you on your way.
It really cannot be stressed enough; jailbreaking is best for advanced users who understand all the possible risks involved in the process. If you’re not sure whether to jailbreak or not, the safest bet is not to as it can cause more problems than some users expect to experience, and it can drastically reduce the capabilities of their devices to get the stable experience. they have become accustomed to. to. Ultimately, it’s your decision, do what’s right for you and your individual device needs.
