Check tutorial of Get iCloud Calendar Spam Invites? How to Stop Them
So after a lot of requests from our users here is a guide about Get iCloud Calendar Spam Invites? How to Stop Them.
Nobody likes spam, but if you have an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, chances are you’ve recently found a new way to spam on your Apple device: iCloud Calendar spam invites! These spam calendar invites are forced on your iPhone or computer as notifications and calendar invites for spam junk products with labels like ‘ray-ban’, ‘Oakley’, ‘Louis Vuitton’, ‘handbags’ or some mixed Chinese characters or other trash, and, amazingly, with Calendar and iCloud, there’s no easy way to ignore them. Sometimes you even get to see the same kind of crap through iCloud Photo Sharing spam or iCloud Reminder spam and through Calendar invite spam.
There are a few ways you can ignore and try to prevent the spam calendar invites from appearing on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Let’s take a look at the options that are currently available.
Option 1: Stop calendar spam alerts with iCloud
All this method does is redirect the Calendar spam from Notifications to email. It’s not a perfect solution, but it should prevent Calendar’s annoying spam notifications from showing up up constantly on your screen.
- Go to iCloud.com (yes the website) and log in as usual
- Click on “Agenda”
- Click on the little gear icon in the corner and choose ‘Preferences’
- Choose ‘Advanced’ and scroll down to ‘Invitations’ and check the box next to ‘Email to firstname.lastname@example.org’ and click Save
All this is to forward all Calendar invites to your email instead of showing them up as notifications on the devices, with the idea that email may have better spam filters than iCloud itself. One problem with this approach is that if you actually use Calendar invitations on a regular basis, you will stop receiving those notifications, so you will miss those and also the Calendar invite spam.
Remember, if you’re doing this from an iPhone or iPad, you’ll likely need to log in to iCloud.com on the web via iOS using the desktop site instead of the mobile version so you can access the full features from iCloud on the web.
Option 2: Move calendar spam invitations to a spam calendar and delete
Another solution that has been thrown around on the Apple Discussions site is to redirect the spam reports to a separate spam calendar and then delete that calendar. The problem with this approach is that you have to do this every time you receive a spam invite, which can currently be a few per day.
- Open the Calendar app on the Mac or iPhone
- Create a new iCloud calendar, name it something obvious, like “SpamCalendar”
- Choose the unwanted invitation and move the spam event invitations to the new iCloud calendar
- Now delete the new iCloud SpamCalendar calendar
- At the pop-up, choose ‘Delete and do not notify’ – this is important as you do not want to notify the spam sender that your email address is active, so make sure to choose ‘Do not notify’
- Repeat for all future iCloud Spam Calendar invitations as soon as they arrive
Sounds like fun? Not really, but this allows you to delete the iCloud spam calendar invites without responding to them and without notifying the sender.
Option 3: Decline the spam calendar invitation
The option most often relied on is what most users choose to do; decline the spam calendar invitation when they appear up on an iPhone, iPad or Mac. You can certainly decline the invites, but the problem with declining the spam invites is that it notifies the spam sender that your email address is active by sending them a reply that their spam invitation has been declined, which means that you will almost certainly get even more spam calendar. invites.
If you don’t care that you may have to fend off and decline tons more calendar spam invites until Apple finds a way to block this stuff, you can just decline the spam invite by tapping the ‘ray-bans’ or ‘Louis Vuitton’. Chinese spam and notification and tap “Decline” at the bottom of the spam calendar invite.
Those are the three methods to manage the iCloud Calendar invitation spam, none of them are ideal but they can serve to delete and delete the calendar spam if needed. At this point, there’s no perfect method to get around it, and the problem will hopefully be addressed by Apple soon, either with a method to ignore the Calendar Spam invites completely, or better yet, so Apple can prevent them from appearing in appear first. Hopefully this will happen sooner rather than later, otherwise don’t be surprised if this new form of spam really gets even more popular due to its very intrusive nature. The good news is that the iCloud Calendar invitation spam problem is so widespread that it’s mentioned in The New York Times and CNBC, so hopefully that means we’ll get an official fix sooner rather than later.
