## How to Find MAC Address on iOS, Android, and Windows - Guide

Mac addresses identify your devices on a network so servers, applications and the Internet know where to send data packets, and some also use them to track your device's activity. ## Windows 7 and Windows 10

Click on the Start menu and select All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.  In the black window that appears up type: getmac / vlook for your network adapter in the list and the physical address is the required MAC number.

For Windows 7: Click on the Start menu and select: All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information and go to step 3

For Windows 10: Click the search window and type: System information and go to step 3

Click the + sign to the left of Components

Click on the + sign to the left of the Network

Click on the adapter

Scroll down to find your network adapter;  note that many devices may be listed.  It's important to find the right device.  The wireless network adapter is labeled wireless, but also look for something like the following example: Intel Pro10 / 100/1000 PCI Adapter.

## iPad - iPhone - Android

### iPad and iPhone

Select settings icon

From the menu on the left, select General

Select About

Look for the WiFi address.

This is your MAC address.

### Android

Go to Settings icon

Scroll down to About phone

Select status

Scroll down until you see the Wi-Fi MAC address.

A MAC address must contain 6 sets of HEX numbers

## Mac OS X

from the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, click the System Preferences icon, or Open Finder, click Applications, then double-click System Preferences, or click the Apple icon in the upper-left corner, click Preferences System

then click Network

from the Show drop-down menu, select Build on Ethernet

for wireless choose Airport or Wireless Adapter

in the center bar, click Ethernet, the Ethernet ID displayed is the MAC address

## UNIX

login as root

type ifconfig in a terminal window

all adapters will be listed

eth0 is normally the hardware adapter and within the statistics listed is HWaddr, which is the MAC address
