## How to Fix ‘Cannot Change Country in Google Play Store’ Issue - Guide

When you go to the Google Play Store, what you see is totally dependent on your region/county settings. Some apps, movies or music will simply not appear in rankings or search results unless your Play Store location matches up with the right country. Maybe you live in the UK but really want to download a game that is only available in the US. Or maybe you're traveling to Australia and can't find any of your favorite apps. It can be extremely frustrating not having the correct IP address to access the applications you want or need.

The Play Store will automatically update your country and profile options as your IP address changes, but Google restricts the number of times you can change your country to once a year. However, there is a simple way around these restrictions - you can change the Google Play Store location using a VPN. Read on to see how easy it really is.

## Follow the steps below on your Android device to change the Play Store country:

Open the Play Store app on your Android device.

Slide the menu to the left and select Account.

On the Preferences tab, you'll see a Country & Profiles section at the bottom with your account's current country. if your phone detect that you are now in a different country, you will see a Switch to the [region] Play Store option below. If you don't see this option, skip below for more information.

Under Switch to the [region] Play Store header, tap one of the options to add a payment method for your new country. This will vary by region; most should have at least the Add credit card option. Review the warning prompt and click Continue.

Proceed with the instructions to add a new payment method for the country you are moving to.

After switching countries, you can now browse the Play Store for that region. Change may take time up to 48 hours to take effect.

The option to change the Play Store country will not appear to everyone. just show up if you were previously in a different country than you are now (based on IP address). That means you can't just move your Play Store to any country you like. In the screenshots of the example above, we used a VPN to change our location to Brazil.

## Notices on changing Google Play Store country

When changing the Google Play Store location, you should be aware of some important points.

First, you cannot use your old payment method with your new account. You will have to use the one from your new country. Keep in mind that you may lose access to some apps and other content if they are not available in your new country.

After switching, you can't spend your old country Google Play balance either. This includes any gift cards you've added but haven't spent yet, as well as any credits earned from Google Opinion Rewards. If you switch back to the old account, however, you will regain access to that balance.
