If you don't use location-based reminders yet, you're missing out on one of the best features from the Reminders app! Location settings in Reminders can help you remember things based on when you'll arrive or leave a location, so you don't forget to choose up milk the next time you are near the supermarket, for example. let's show you how to use this by hand feature.

If location tracking is not already enabled, you will first need to enable Location Services for the Reminders app. To create a location-based reminder in the Reminders app, you can make a new reminder or edit an existing one. Follow the steps below to define up a reminder to alert you based on location.

## Settings up automatic reminders

When you set a time for a task, Todoist automatically sets a reminder for you. For example, when you create a task for tomorrow at 4:00 pm, Todoist will automatically send you a reminder 30 minutes earlier. You can change your default reminder settings to choose how long before you want to receive the automatic reminder and whether to send it via push notification, desktop notification, or email:

### Select platform:

Click your avatar in the upper right corner of Todoist and select Settings.

Click Reminders.

Move the toggle button to enabled next to the type of notification you want to receive:

Desktop Notification to receive notifications through your operating system.

Mobile notification to get notifications on your mobile device.

Email to receive an email reminder to the address you added in Settings → Account.

Select a relative time from the Auto Reminders drop-down list.

## Settings up personalized reminders

To define up personalized reminders for any task, with or without due date and time:

### Select platform:

When adding or editing a task, click the web_reminder.svg alarm clock icon in the lower right corner.

Click the clock icon to choose whether you want to create a reminder based on date and time or location. For existing tasks with a deadline, you'll see a third option - Before task - to set a reminder for a certain amount of time before your task's due date.

Depending on which option you chose in step 2, set the trigger for your reminder - enter the specific date and time, the location, or select the relative time before the task ends.

(Optional) In shared projects, you can add a reminder for a specific contributor. To do this, click on your avatar icon next to the reminder delivery time and select an assignee.

Click Add Reminder.
