## How to Fix ‘NVIDIA Con­trol Pan­el Miss­ing on Win­dows 10’ issue - Guide

Many users of NVIDIA graphics cards have reported that the NVIDIA Control Panel does not appear.  Control Panel, which is used to control the properties of the NVIDIA graphics card installed on the user's PC, no longer appears in the desktop context menu, Start menu, or on the desktop out of nowhere.  This could be due to a faulty graphics card driver, latest updates, missing registry subkeys and values, or a random error here and there.

If your NVIDIA control panel is also missing, don't panic.  Try the following methods to fix the missing NVIDIA control panel in Windows 10 and you're ready to go.

## How to    Fix the Missing NVIDIA Control Panel on Windows 10

### Display the NVIDIA Control Panel

Open the search bar on the taskbar by clicking the magnifying glass icon.  you can also bring up with Windows keyboard shortcut + S.

Type in Control Panel and click on the first search result.  Alternatively, click NVIDIA Control Panel available in the search results.

In the Classic Control Panel, change the view to Large Icons and click NVIDIA Control Panel under Items.

Once the NVIDIA Control Panel is open, click on the Desktop menu at the top.  Make sure there is a checkmark next to Add Desktop Context Menu and Show Notification Tray Icon.  If not, just click on them to add them.

Close the NVIDIA Control Panel and try to open it by right-clicking on your desktop or using the system tray.

### Restart your NVIDIA services

Press the Windows + R keys on your keyboard.  This will bring up the Run utility.

Type "services.msc" without the quotes and press the Enter key on your keyboard.  This will open the Services window.

Locate the “NVIDIA Display Container LS” service in the list.  Right click on it and select Restart from the context menu.

Repeat the above step for the following services: NVIDIA LocalSystem Container, NVIDIA NetworkService Container, and NVIDIA Telemetry Container.

After restarting all NVIDIA services, verify that you can see the panel in the system tray or desktop context menu.

### Open NVIDIA Control Panel manually

Right-click on an empty space on the taskbar and choose Task Manager.

If Task Manager starts in compact mode, be sure to expand the details by clicking “Mode Details” button.

You should be on the Processes tab by default.  Scroll down until you see a process called NVIDIA Container.  There may be multiple versions of this process on your list, which is normal.

Right-click any of the NVIDIA container processes and choose Open File Location from the context menu.

click on the Up arrow next to the File Explorer address bar as shown in the image below.  Alternatively, manually navigate to the C:Program FilesNVIDIA Corporation folder.

Open the Control Panel Client folder → and right-click the nvcplui.exe file → and choose Run as administrator.  If prompted, enter your account password.

Check if the NVIDIA control panel shows up system tray or desktop context menu.

### Update your NVIDIA video driver

Check the type of graphics card you are using: Press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time.  This will bring up the Run utility.

Type "dxdiag" without the quotes and press OK button.  This is the shortcut to access the DirectX Diagnostics tool, which allows you to view information about your system.  Switch to the Display tab.  On the device, write down the name and manufacturer of your graphics card.

Go to the corresponding manufacturer's website and navigate to the download page.  Here are some of the most common manufacturers' web pages where you can find driver downloads: Intel Drivers and Software Page NVIDIA Drivers Download Page AMD Drivers Download Page and Support Page

Find your graphics card model using the search tools provided and download the latest driver.

Download and install the latest driver by double-clicking the downloaded file and following the onscreen instructions.  You may be asked to reset the device.

### Update the video adapter driver automatically

Press the Windows and R keys on the keyboard at the same time.  This will bring up the Run utility.

Type “devmgmt.msc” without the quotes and press OK button.  This will take you to the Device Manager window.

Expand the Display Adapters section by clicking the left arrow icon

Right-click on the current driver and select the Update Driver option.

Click Automatically search for updated driver software to let Windows 10 update your driver automatically.  When finished, feel free to exit Device Manager and restart your computer.

### Don't overclock your GPU

Overclocking your GPU can be very useful if you are looking for performance gain.  What it essentially does is raise the limits of your graphics card, allowing it to function above safety limits.  This can also lead to many errors on your PC, making overclocking your GPU an expensive gamble.

Numerous stories detail computers breaking down due to overclocking - make sure you always stay within limits.  Going too far can cause the graphics card to stop working completely.

An overclocked GPU may be the reason for the absence of the NVIDIA Control Panel.  Although the direct relationship is unknown, many users have reported that disabling overclocking on their GPU has caused the NVIDIA control panel to reappear.
