## How to Remove Windows 10 Recycle Bin from Desktop - Guide

Every record you delete from the Windows 10 system goes to Recycle Bin naturally. From here, you can choose whether you want to permanently delete documents and organizers or restore them whenever accidentally deleted.

Since users will likely use this app from time to time, Microsoft has placed an alternate route to get to it on the Windows 10 desktop.

However, assuming you see this trash can taking up a lot of space on your desktop, this is the way to remove the Recycle Bin from your desktop.

## Removing the Recycle Bin from the Windows 10 Desktop

To get started, right-click on the desktop and choose Customize.

Then select Themes from the list of subsections on the left.

Then click Desktop Icon Settings on the right side of the window.

Another new window, called Desktop Icon Settings, will appear. In the Desktop Icons section at the top of the window you will see checkboxes for all familiar Windows system icons. In a typical Windows 10 installation, only the Recycle Bin will be checked.

Go ahead and uncheck the box next to Trash and click Apply at the bottom of the window to hide Trash from the Windows 10 desktop. You will see the Trash icon disappear instantly.

## Accessing the Recycle Bin

Now that you've removed it from your desktop, you're probably wondering How to access it. Let's go over this now.

To access or empty the Recycle Bin after hiding its icon on the desktop, open a new File Explorer window and type “Recycle Bin” into the File Explorer address bar. This will take you directly to the Recycle Bin and show all the files in it.

Alternatively, you can reverse the above steps to temporarily restore the Trash icon, right-click it and choose Pin to Home Screen. This will create a Recycle Bin block in the Windows 10 Start menu.
