To get started, swipe down once or twice, depending on your phone, to bring up the quick settings menu.  Select the gear icon to access system settings.  Scroll down and tap “Accessibility”.  Now select “Magnification”.  On a Samsung device, you will need to go to “Visibility Enhancements” before seeing the Zoom In tool.

Turn on the switch to activate the "Shortcut Magnification".  This is where things vary depending on your device and Android version.  Android 12 introduced a visible magnification shortcut that floats on the edge of the screen.

Earlier versions of Android have a two-finger gesture to show zoom modes.  just swipe your finger up at the bottom of the screen with two fingers.  Some devices also have a “Magnification Type” menu, which gives you the option to decide what comment the screen will be enlarged to.

Whether you have the shortcut or the two-finger gesture, there are a number of other gestures you will need to know after using them.  Suppose you want to zoom in on the screen and interact with it while it is zoomed in:

Start zooming with the shortcut or gesture.

Touch the screen.

Drag 2 fingers to move across the screen.

Pinch with 2 fingers to adjust the zoom.

Use hotkey / gesture to stop zooming.

Alternatively, if you just want to zoom in on something, you can do it this way:

Start zooming with the shortcut or gesture.

Tap and hold anywhere on the screen.

Drag your finger to move across the screen.

Lift your finger to stop zooming.
