The new and updated Uranus addon attracts many quality connections. It also has an updated collection of Movies, Series, and TV Shows. It is now also compatible with Real Debrid and Trakt.
In this guide, we will learn how to install the Uranus Kodi addon. This addon was closed a long time ago. However, it has now been revived by the Linux Cy4Root Repository. After Neptune Rising stopped working, a fork of this popular addon quickly emerged – the Uranus. The new addon comes with many quality connections to Movies and TV Shows streams and is now one of the best addons to install the addon on Kodi.
I’m glad it’s back the way I used to be a fan of this addon. I hope you like it, too.
How do you install Uranus on Kodi?
I’m gonna tell you now how to install Uranus on Kodi and which is very simple just follow me on this post.
Also, the method below is for Kodi on Windows 10. So What I like about Kodi is that the interface is generally the same on all platforms, including in the smartphones, tablets, and Amazon Fire TV Stick. That’s why the following process will work just as well on every device you use.
- How To Remotely Access Another Computer From Your Computer(Opens in a new browser tab)
- How to edit Mac’s dictionary
Let’s get started.
Kodi Addons / builds offer unlimited streaming content, but can also get you into legal trouble if you get caught streaming free movies / TV shows/sports. Kodi users are strongly advised to always connect a VPN while streaming online. A useful Kodi VPN hides your identity, bypasses government oversight, geo-blocked content, and ISP throttling (which also helps in buffer-free streaming).
I use ExpressVPN, which is the fastest and safest VPN. It is easy to install on any device, including Amazon FireStick. You get 3 months free and save 49% on annual plans. It also comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not satisfied, you can always ask for a refund. Click HERE to get 3-months free and save 49% on ExpressVPN.
Step 1: Prepare Kodi to Install Uranus Addon
There is a security setting in the app Kodi that does not allow you to install an addon from outside the official Kodi Addon Repository. Uranus is also a third party addon, which we will install from an external repository. Therefore, we will have to change the security setting and enable the Unknown Sources.
If this will make you worry about the security of your device, you don’t have to worry. While it is true that there are some potentially insecure addons, the one we are going to install is clean. I’ve tried it personally.
Here’s how to allow the installation of third-party addons.
- How to delete a Spotify account(Opens in a new browser tab)
- How to add a guest mode for any android(Opens in a new browser tab)
#1. Open the ‘Settings’ menu from the Kodi main home screen. You will find this option on the top left and looks like a gear or sometype cog icon.
#2. Now, select and open ‘System Settings’ from the list of the options in the Settings menu
#3. Click Add-ons setting on the left sidebar (as shown in the image below)
#4. Switch on the Unknown Sources toggle
#5. When you see the following error message, ignore it as we have already established that Uranus is a safe add-on. Click, ‘Yes’ to proceed.
Now we’re all ready to install Uranus Addon on Kodi. You can install any of the third party addon you want.
I always advise my readers to disable this option once they have installed the desired app. This will keep your device safer.
Step 2 – Adding the source for Uranus Kodi Addon
#1. Execute Kodi and click on ‘Settings’ in the top left corner of the start screen.
#2. When you see the list of the options, click ‘File Manager.’
#3. Now you will see ‘Add source’ as one of the options on the next list. Open it!
#4. On the following window, click ‘’ and enter https://cy4root2.github.io/zip. Type the URL exactly as I have provided.
Hit ‘OK’ once done
#5. You also need to provide a name for this repo/source in the ‘Enter a name for this media source.’ You may enter any name of your choice. Make it relevant though, so that you may identify it later. For this article, I give it the name ‘cy4root’.
#6. Click the ‘OK’ button once done.
You have now added the new repository source from which we will install Uranus Kodi addon.
Part 2 – Install Uranus on Kodi Using the Added Source
Now that the source is added, we will fetch Uranus addon from it. This part is easy. Here are the steps.
#1. Press the Backspace or Escape key until you are back on the Kodi home screen. From here, select ‘Add-ons’ from the menu on the left.
#2. On the next screen, click on the icon on the top left that looks like an open box (doesn’t it also look like the Dropbox icon?). This option is popularly called Package Installer.
#3. Click on ‘Install from zip file.’
#4. On the next window, you should be able to see ‘cy4root’, the name we chose for this source (in case you wanted any other name, select it instead)
#5. Now, click “repository.cy4root-master.zip,” as shown in the image below. If you see the different version numbers, still click it.
#6. Now, wait for the cy4root Repository Add-on installed notification to appear on the top right of the screen. It may take from a few seconds to a minute, depending upon the size of the Repository
#7. Now that the cy4root Repository has been added, we will install Griffin Repo. Click “Install from Repository”

#9. Now, click Video addons
#10. Click Uranus
#11. Click Install
#12. Click OK
#13. Wait for the Uranus Add-on Installed notification
Well, that’s how you add Uranus addon on Kodi 17.6 version. Go back to the Kodi home screen. If you don’t have a lot of addons, you should be able to see Uranus on the Kodi home screen. And, if you happen to have many, just navigate to Add-ons > Video Add-ons. You will find Uranus here.
Before you start streaming with Kodi Addons / Builds, I would like to warn you that everything you stream on Kodi is visible to your ISP and Government. This means streaming copyrighted content (free movies, TV shows, Sports) might get you into legal trouble.
Kodi users are strongly advised to connect a VPN while streaming. A VPN for Kodi will bypass ISP throttling, Government Surveillance, and geo-restriction on popular Add-ons. I always connect ExpressVPN on all my streaming devices, and I suggest you do the same.
ExpressVPN is the fastest and most secure VPN. It comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. Meaning, you can use it freely for the first 30-days, and if you are not satisfied with the performance (which is highly unlikely), you can ask for a full refund.
NOTE: We do not encourage the violation of the copyright laws. But, what if you end up streaming content from an illegitimate source unintentionally? It is not always easy to tell the difference between a legit and illegal source.
So, before you start streaming on Kodi, here’s how to get VPN protection in 3 simple steps.
Step 1: Get the ExpressVPN subscription.
Step 2: Download and install the ExpressVPN app on your device.
Step 3: Click the Power icon to connect a VPN server. That’s all. Your connection is now secure with the fastest and best VPN for Kodi.
