Move Dashboard To Another Space Location on Mission Control for OS

Check tutorial of Move Dashboard To Another Space Location in Mission Control for OS X

So after a lot of requests from our users here is a guide about Move Dashboard To Another Space Location in Mission Control for OS X.

Dashboard is largely under loved and unappreciated feature from Mac OS X that gives you quick access to a variety of widgets, with things like weather information, fast units conversion, a dictionary, world clocks, and anything else you’ve set up there. The newer versions of OS X have made Dashboard a dedicated space, turning it into a unique kind of virtual desktop with full-screen desktops and apps, and up until OS X Mavericks stuck it all the way to the left of Spaces within Mission Control. Now that has changed, and since OS X 10.9, the Dashboard can be moved to a new space location just like any other Desktop Space or full-screen app:

  • Open Mission Control, usually this is done with a three finger swipe up gesture on a trackpad or MagicMouse, or by pressing the F3 key
  • Click and hold the “Dashboard” space and drag it to a new location

You can choose to place Dashboard between existing desktop spaces, full screen apps, or all the way to the right or left (default).

Reordering the placement of the Dashboard changes its position up when skipping between desktop spaces and full-screen apps, whether using the swipe gestures or the Control key tricks to navigate or jump between them. If you are used to a specific workflow with this, it might not be the best idea to adjust the Dashboard position in Mission Control.

Note that this has no effect whatsoever if you choose to use Dashboard outside of Mission Control, meaning it is used only and not as a space. Personally, I prefer that latter option and have a Dashboard overlay on top of the desktop screen and whatever is currently active on the screen. Obviously, this is a matter of personal preference, but for me that provides the fastest access to things like world clocks, weather and the dictionary / thesaurus. However, for those who prefer Dashboard as a dedicated space, this can be useful trick. Thanks to Pete R. for submitting it tip!
