How to Scan documents in the Files app

You must have the Files app open on your iPhone or iPad before we can get started.

  1. Press “…” button in the top right corner of the ‘Browse’ section, then tap ‘Scan Documents’ button from the menu. *
  2. Tap the ellipse.  Tap Scan Document

  3. Place your document on a flat surface and place it in the viewfinder of the iPhone or iPad. If the document is placed perfectly, the scan will be performed automatically. If not, tap the round recording button to take the picture.
  4. Drag the corners of the image to reduce or enlarge the scan area. Tap “Keep Scan” to continue.
  5. Drag the corners to the edges of the document

  6. Now you can scan additional pages by repeating the process. When you are done, tap “Save” to continue.
  7. Select a location to save the scans and tap “Save” again. You can create new folders by tapping New Folder button and you can rename the file by also tapping the file name at the top of the screen.
  8. Select a location and tap Save

If you’d rather scan documents directly to a location in the Files app, that’s possible too. Open the location in the Files app and tap the same “…” button and proceed as normal. You may have to pull the screen down slightly to get it button, however.
