  • Restart iTunes to make the iOS device visible over Wi-Fi

Remember, if you just want to restart the process manually or by killing it, you don’t want to turn off the Apple Mobile Device service completely otherwise your iPhone or iPad will never show up up.

Regardless of the operating system you are using, restarting iTunes should make the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, iPad Mini, whatever it is, immediately appear in the iTunes sidebar’s device list or in the title bar as the sidebar hidden.

Note: Some readers find that AppleMobileDeviceHelper is not running when iTunes is not running, this is normal. If you find that the process is running after iTunes is closed, stop it anyway.

  • Try to force a manual sync from the iOS device by going to Settings> General> iTunes Wi-Fi Sync> Sync Now
  • Turn off “Use Cellular Data for iTunes” by going to Settings> General> Cellular> iTunes> OFF
