Gadgets for Remodelers – There are an endless number of gadgets every home workshop needs and the home handyman or DIY enthusiast can never get enough. There are a number of absolute basic necessities that you get first and then slowly build up your collection of the rest as you go. There is often a number of ways to do a project and you can get by with more basic equipment but having good quality tools and gadgets will improve the quality of your work, make it a lot faster and will make the whole process a lot more enjoyable too.
With so many different options available it is often difficult to know where to start. We took a look at hundreds of popular options on the market at the moment and narrowed it down to this list of the 5 must-have gadgets for remodelers. The list applies just as much to the beginner as to the more experienced craftsman. Let’s take a look.
1. Mitre Saw
Mitre saws are extremely handy tools for precision angled crosscuts on wood, board or moldings. They make your work extremely accurate as you specify the exact angle required and all cuts will be exactly the same, fitting perfectly. Apart from improved accuracy, they are extremely fast, making your jobs quick and simple.
There are a number of different types available depending on the type of work you intend doing as well as the size of the material you need to cut. They can also cut beveled edges.
2. Bench Grinder
No workshop should be without a bench grinder and if you do not already have one, it needs to be at the top of your list. This versatile piece of equipment is so handy you will find yourself using it regularly and wonder how you ever lived without one before. It has a number of uses from cleaning and smoothing off rough edges on metal work, sharpening chisels, knives, and cutters to removing rust or paint from objects, to mention just a few.
It generally consists of two spinning wheels, one a rough grinding wheel for hard metals and on the other side either a stiff wire brush or a buffing wheel.
3. Angle Grinder
Another highly versatile gadget is the angle grinder, they come in a variety of sizes and there is a large number of different blades and attachments available, depending on the type of work you wish to do and the material being worked on. The most common applications are cutting, polishing and grinding.
Most have a protective guard and a handle on the side to stabilize and guide the grinder. They can also be used as an electric sander by using a sanding disk.
Depending on the material and type of work you intend using it for, look at the disk size and power of the angle grinder.

4. Nail Gun
The hammer is often one of the first tools we purchase and learn to use and it is not particularly difficult to drive a nail into a piece of wood or other material. If you are going to hammer 2 or 3 nails every so often then there is no problem sticking to a conventional hammer. If, however, you need to hammer nails fairly often, you cannot beat a nail gun for speed, efficiency, and ease of use. A nail gun can drive in upwards of 200 nails in a minute, that is super fast.
Nail guns are used extensively in the construction industry as well as many woodworking applications. They are powered by either compressed air, gas, electromagnets and even light explosives charges. If your work requires a lot of hammering, you will save a huge amount of time and effort with a nail gun.
5. Electric Router
The extremely versatile router is perhaps my favorite workshop gadget and I could not live without it. It has a motor-driven spindle to which you can connect a host of attachments for a wide variety of functions. The main purpose is to rout or hollow wood off the surface but it can also be used for shaping, beveling, cutting, trimming and smoothing. Trust me, you will use it all the time.
I could go on much longer but those 5 gadgets are the really handy ones to have around. They are all highly versatile and will make your work more enjoyable, faster and better looking.
