Key Oracle exec Thomas Kurian resigns

Oracle's longtime director, Thomas Cruong, resigned according to the documents of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Mr. Clear said his resignation to Oracle as soon as "pursue other opportunities" on Friday.

Mr. Kurian, who is the president of product development, was the leader in software development and was responsible for moving the company's technology to the cloud. He joined the company since 1996 and is reporting directly to Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and CTO.

According to Bloomberg, the departure of Kurian was a disagreement with Ellison on the company's cloud strategy. Mr. Kurian wanted to run more Oracle software with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, whereas Ellison opposed promoting Oracle's own infrastructure.

Kurian announced that it will take a break from the company on September 5.
