Logitech MX Master Wireless Mouse: Design

The Logitech MX Master is a palm-grip mouse with substantial thumb support. Which means it provides a broad, tall design that cradles the user’s palm, whereas a gorge along the left side of the mouse gives a comfortable nook for the user’s thumb. This design offers loads of contact between the user’s hand and the mouse, which implies tiresome pressure points are less likely to form.

The Logitech MX Master is a palm grip mouse and it is really slightly bigger than its predecessor, measuring 85.7mm wide, 126mm long and 48.4mm tall in comparison with 83.5mm wide, 128.3mm long and 47mm wide. The weight is nearly the same though the Logitech MX Master is a fraction lighter at 145 grams against 147g of the Logitech MX Performance.

The top of the mouse, which is nearly entirely black, features the main left and right buttons, in addition to the scroll wheel. At the centre sits a small, sq. button, known as “manual shift”, which controls the wheel.

Far more unusual is the left side of the Logitech MX Master. Towards the top is a thumb wheel, which neighbours a pair of long, angular buttons formed vaguely like arrowheads. Beneath this group is the textured thumb rest, which doubles up as what Logitech calls the “gesture” button. A trio of LED lights that point out battery life sit simply in front of this.

On the Logitech MX Master, underbelly is the power switch, connect button and Darkfield sensor, as well as a circular key topped by the numbers 1, 2 and 3. That is the “Easy-Switch” control, which lets you bounce between as much as 3 paired units with a simple push of the button. In the direction of the front of the bottom is a Micro-USB port, used for charging.
