At the end of June, Microsoft announced a OneDrive for a Business feature designed to facilitate the migration of local data out of Windows PCs. At that time, company officials suggested that this would also happen to OneDrive consumers.
Microsoft officially made “Known Folder Migration” Available for OneDrive Consumer, according to an update of its support documentation, noted by The Edge.
OneDrive Known Folder Migration can automatically back up the Documents Pictures and Desktop Windows 7, 8 and 10 folders. No Outlook.ST or OneNote file not already stored in OneDrive can be saved in this way, Note the Microsoft documentation.
The Microsoft launch of IT professionals with known folder migration was aimed at extracting user data from local computers and storing them in the cloud. For consumers, the presentation of Microsoft is somewhat different, even if the functionality is the same.
Users who enable this feature – either by following a Microsoft prompt or manually by accessing OneDrive settings, then More, then Settings, and then the Auto Save tab – will be able to better synchronize their information. store it locally and (optionally) sync it with OneDrive later. Microsoft also notes that files stored in OneDrive Consumer are protected against potential ransomware attacks.
