Adobe Enhances Photoshop for Web with Groundbreaking Generative AI Technology

Software giant Adobe has announced the launch of Photoshop for the web, a highly anticipated move after more than a year of beta testing. This web version of the popular editing tool is Adobe’s first program that is “deeply integrated” with artificial intelligence (AI).

One of the key advantages of the web version is that it can be accessed directly through any browser, eliminating the need to download or install the program. However, it will not be available as a free-to-use experience at launch and will instead be included as part of all paid Photoshop plans starting at $9.99 per month. Users can sign up for a seven-day free trial to test out the service.

What sets this new version apart is its integration with generative AI, which has been making waves in the tech space. Adobe Firefly, their generative AI product, was launched earlier this year and has now been incorporated into Photoshop on the web. The goal behind this integration is to create a tool that acts as a “co-pilot” for graphic design.

The AI features available in Photoshop on the web include “Generative Fill” and “Generative Expansion.” For example, users can now add, enlarge, or remove elements from images using text-based instructions similar to those used by Dall-E and Midjourney. Another exciting feature is the “Contextual Taskbar,” which suggests relevant steps to take in your workflow.

These features were initially added to the desktop version of Photoshop earlier this year but are now accessible through the web version as well. Other popular desktop-equivalent features such as patch tools, pen tools, smart object support, and polygonal lasso have also made their way into Photoshop on the web.

Adobe has gradually incorporated AI into its tools over time, including background replacement in Photoshop. With this latest move towards integrating generative AI into their flagship product, Adobe aims to make photo editing easier and more efficient.

It’s worth noting that the decision to add generative AI to Photoshop comes at a time when concerns have been raised about AI being trained on copyrighted works of art. However, Adobe has made it clear that their goal is to enhance user experience rather than replace humans.

Totally, the launch of Photoshop for the web with generative AI integration is an exciting development for graphic designers and photo editors. It offers a more accessible and optimized user experience while harnessing the power of AI. According to sources familiar with the matter, this move by Adobe signifies their commitment to embracing new technologies and pushing the boundaries of creativity in digital design.
