After cops discovered a stockpile on a cell phone, a Bethlehem kid was charged with 236 counts of ID theft

Tymel Elijah Terrell-Bolding, 19, of the 800 block of Hawthorne Road, was arrested Sunday on 236 felony counts of identity theft stemming from the investigation. He was arraigned Sunday before District Judge Nick Englesson, who set bail at $100,000. Court records show a bondsman posted bail on Terrell-Bolding’s behalf on Monday.

An investigation into a Bethlehem teen’s fraudulent use of credit cards to order food from a restaurant turned up a cache of personal information on 236 people stored on the teen’s cell phone, police say in court records.

The case dates back to August 2019, and the charges were initially filed in May 2020. It was not immediately clear why there was a more than 15-month lapse between the filing of the charges and the suspect’s arrest on Sunday.

Bethlehem police launched an investigation into credit cards being fraudulently used to purchase food eight times from the same, undisclosed restaurant between Aug. 13, 2019, and Sept. 2, 2019.

“Each of the eight orders was placed using different credit card numbers, however, they all used the same phone number and seven of the orders used the same customer name,” police say in court records. “Two of the three orders … marked for delivery were delivered to the defendant’s address.”

Investigators obtained a search warrant to seize Terrell-Bolding’s cell phone. On it, there were saved images with personal identifying information on 236 people, court records say.

“This information included name, street address, city, state, ZIP code, credit card number and CVV security code,” according to the court records, which did not disclose the source of the personal information.
