An Android exec briefly demonstrates the Pixel 6's under-display fingerprint sensor

Deal: 85% off Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 (Updated: Back in stock!) Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 for Windows: Lifetime License. The package includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, Publisher, and Access, all for just $50. We know the Pixel 6 series will have an under-display fingerprint sensor and use a new in-house Tensor processor. Now, it looks like our first glimpse of the Pixel 6 series’ under-display fingerprint sensor has been shown off on Twitter.

The photograph was shared and soon withdrawn by Google’s Android division’s chief. A screenshot shared on Twitter shows the Pixel 6’s under-display fingerprint sensor. The photograph was shared and soon withdrawn by Google’s Android division’s chief. It may also display the phone’s maximum screen resolution. The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be available soon. Google has previously revealed intentions to update its premium Pixel devices later this year.

Hiroshi Lockheimer, head of Google’s Android division, posted what looked to be an innocent image on his Twitter account. His cheeky caption mentioned that he was trying out new wallpaper combinations with Android 12’s Material You theming engine. As you can see in the screenshot, the device’s under-display fingerprint sensor icon is sitting right below the clock widget, giving us a first glimpse of what the sensor will look like on the Pixel 6.  As we all know, almost nothing completely disappears from the internet. Mishaal Rahman, editor-in-chief of XDA-Developers, reposted a copy of Lockheimer’s deleted Twitter post on his own account.

The screenshot itself had a resolution of 1,440 x 3,200, although a later tweet clarified that the Pixel 6’s screen resolution should be 1,140 x 3,120. Screen resolutions aside, the image also showed that Verizon’s 5G network was connected to the phone. If that’s the case, it makes sense why Lockheimer deleted his Twitter post. After all, why delete an image taken from an already available phone? In any case, we should get more official info from Google about the new Pixel 6 phones sometime later this fall.
