Apple: Image of 'iPhone 12' shows smaller notch, widgets on Home screen

A new image seems to represent “the iPhone 12” with a much smaller notch, while at the same time suggesting that the widgets that should be added to “iOS 14” could occupy the same space as different icons on the home screen.

Rumor has it that Apple is working on adding widgets to iOS, a development that will allow users to access their iPhone’s home screen without having to navigate to another area. In an image shared by leaker @choco_bit on Twitter, the widgets are apparently available in different sizes.

The figure shows representations of icons on the home screen, but some are rectangular and take up the space of two icons, while others are larger and consume four icon points. While the image does not specify what these elements are, the most likely answer is that they are widgets.

Rumors of widgets in “iOS 14” showed up on Sunday, with the functionality known internally as “Lawyer”. Unloved pinned widgets as used in iPadOS 13, rumors about widgets can be moved by user like application icon.

The latest image also implies another rumor that Apple will include a smaller notch in future iPhones. There has been speculation about this development since July 2019, which would mean Apple is using a smaller network of TrueDepth cameras in the iPhone 12 to activate Face ID, and the image has a notch about two-thirds the size of the current iteration. .

As for another image published by @choco_bit on Sunday regarding LiDAR, we don’t know what the source of the image is. If correct, the most likely sources are internal design documents or design service manuals, although this cannot be verified.

The account would be managed by a former Apple-authorized service partner, who has also leaked Apple products in the past.
