Apple iPhone 13 rumors, release date, specifications and features

News Highlights: Apple iPhone 13 rumors, release date, specifications and features

(Pocket Ribbon) – The annual renewal of the iPhone is one of the biggest tech events: it’s the phone many want to own, one that sets trends, and the phone everyone else is looking for.

While leaks and rumors are nothing new in the tech world, it is quite rare to get information about unannounced Apple devices. They don’t leak as extensively as a Samsung or Google phone, but we collect everything we hear about the 2021 iPhone models here.

Apple iPhone 13 release date and price

Typically Apple likes to be iPhone event in the second week of September and normally on a Tuesday. If 2020 had been a standard year, the iPhone 12 would likely have been unveiled on September 8, 2020.

2020 was of course not a normal year thanks to the persistent global situation. Instead, Apple revealed it iPhone 12 series on October 13, breaking the pattern and making it harder to determine when the iPhone 13 (or iPhone 14) Event can take place.

If the pattern returns to normal for 2021, the iPhone 13 events could take place on September 7. Of course, nothing has been confirmed yet, nor will it be until at least the end of August 2021.

In terms of price, we would rate the iPhone 13 series to start roughly the same as the iPhone 12 range.

What will it iPhone 2021?

  • iPhone 13/14 mini
  • iPhone 13/14
  • iPhone 13/14 Pro
  • iPhone 13/14 Pro Max

For 2017 it was quite easy to predict what the next step would be iPhone would be called. According to the iPhone 3G to the iPhone 8 Apple used consecutive numbers and that was that.

With the iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max launched in 2020, it is quite likely that the iPhones before 2021 will have the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, if there are four iPhones again.

That said, as the number 13 is often associated with bad luck, it could be that Apple is skipping 13 and the 2021 iPhones iPhone 14 mini, iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Design

  • Similar design
  • Straighter edges

The Apple iPhone 12 models came with an updated design, with squarer bezels that are more like the iPhone 4 or 5. It is therefore likely that the iPhone 13 models will stick with this design, as a design refresh would be unusual two years in a row.

However, we hope to see a reduced notch at the top of the screen on the 2021 models – which has been suggested in rumors – or better yet, no notch at all. A patent has already been filed for a notch-less phone, but how Face ID would be housed remains a puzzle.

Displays

  • All OLED
  • 120Hz refresh rate

With the iPhone 12 models all offering OLED screens, this is probably it iPhone 13 models will also all have OLED screens.

There were reports of a variable refresh rate for the iPhone 12 models with a 120Hz refresh rate that can drop to 60Hz if needed, although this never happened so maybe it’s something we’ll see on the 2021 models.

The iPhone Series 12 comes in a 5.4-inch model, two 6.1-inch models and a 6.7-inch model. With display formats changing for 2020, we predict they will stay the same in 2021, although you never know.

Some speculation also suggested in-display fingerprint sensors for the iPhone 12 models. Since this never appeared, this may be something of the iPhone 13 models will try to introduce alongside Face ID.

Cameras

  • Pro models will likely be better
  • Improvements likely

Currently there are not many rumors about the cameras iPhone 13 models, but we suspect Apple will stick with offering a better camera setup on the iPhone 13 Pro models. We hope to see the standard iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone However, 13 Pro Max offers the same again.

Claims have been made to all models in it iPhone 13 series can offer sensor-shift image stabilization, which is currently offered on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which would be great to see.

We also expect improvements across the board, but at this point it is not clear what these could be.

Hardware and software

With the iPhone 12 series with 5G, the iPhone No doubt 13 models will do the same. They’ll also likely all run on the A15 chip and iOS 15 software, which we’ll likely hear about in June 2021.

Other hardware and software features have yet to be detailed in rumors, but we expect to hear more about them in the coming months.

April 20, 2020: Smaller incoming

Several reports suggested it iPhone 12 would have a smaller notch, but all Face ID sensors will be there. Essentially, this would just mean moving the speaker up the edge of the phone, like on many Android devices.

Like the iPhone 12 models did not offer this, all eyes are now on the iPhone 13 models.

December 31, 2019: Notch-free phone patent filed by Apple

Apple-pending patents have appeared for a phone without a notch, but it does raise the question of how Apple will offer Face ID if there isn’t room for the necessary hardware.

September 30, 2019: Apple iPhone renderings do not show a notch

Ben Geskin produced some renderings showing what the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max could have looked if the notch was gone. We’ve left them here in case Apple takes this step for the iPhone 13 models.

Ben Geskin September 5, 2019: Apple develops in-screen sensor

According to Bloomberg, Apple is developing a built-in fingerprint authentication technology that is similar to the solutions we have implemented by Samsung, OnePlus, Huawei and others.

Supposedly, it would be a Touch ID branding feature that would work alongside Face ID, allowing users to more efficiently bypass their device’s lock screen and process payments.

August 5, 2019: Long live Touch ID! Apple’s 2021 iPhone can use in-display fingerprint technology

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has claimed that Apple will likely offer an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 2021. Kuo said the system will work alongside Apple’s Face ID.

He also said the notch would get smaller for the 2020 iPhone – which it didn’t – before being completely dumped for the 2021 iPhone.

July 11, 2019: The iPhone by 2021, front cameras will have under the screen

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims it iPhoneThe big notch will disappear completely in 2021.

Kuo doesn’t go into how Apple could do this, but one way would be to put the True Depth camera system – used for Face ID – behind the screen. There are big challenges with this technology right now, so maybe there is another solution?
