Apple Working on Noise-Canceling Over-Ear Headphones

Apple is said to be working on high-quality wireless headphones with interchangeable parts. Development is underway on at least two versions, one of which is a premium offering and another a fitness-focused option (via Bloomberg News).

The competitor of a new over-ear headset has its own Beats brand

The news prototypes are said to have a rotatable oval atrium. Meanwhile, a headband is attached to thin metal arms. The premium version uses leather-like fabrics and the fitness-oriented variant uses lighter and more breathable materials.

When they appear, the headphones are clearly designed to build on the success of the AirPods Pro – Apple’s first audio product with noise cancellation capabilities. Indeed, this rumored offering will be based on the technology used in the AirPods Pro. Interestingly, the new on-ear headphones would be a direct competitor to the Apple Beats brand. I imagine most consumers see Beats as a separate entity. However, it will be fascinating to see how Apple releases its own version of in-ear headphones.
