The Aledo Bearcat baseball team has secured the number one seed in their district after a successful final two weeks of the regular season. As they entered into the bidistrict round of playoffs, head coach Chad Barry emphasized the importance of his team playing their best baseball at such a crucial time. Facing Trimble Techwho secured the fourth seed in their own district, Aledo bulldozed them with scores of 8-0 and 11-1 in the best-of-three elimination series.
Coach Barry stressed to his players that it was not about who they were playing against but rather how sharp they came out and maintained focus to play at their highest level. The Bearcats’ performance throughout every facet of the game was outstanding, with Matthew Clark and Robert Burk delivering spectacular performances as pitchers and Trace Mazon excelling on offense.
With this win behind them, Aledo will face off against Burleson (23-6-1) later this week at Cleburne’s Depot. This is not an unfamiliar matchup for both teams as they have played each other for two years in a row during the second round. Coach Barry anticipates that it will be another dogfight between familiar enemies.
Every player on Aledo’s team contributed to securing their victory against Trimble Tech. The bullpen worked seamlessly to allow only one run from Trimble Tech while Trace Mazon went six-for-eight in the series with impressive batting skills that included a double and triple.
Despite how well his team has performed over these past few weeks including in their opener for playoffs, Coach Barry believes there is still room for improvement before taking on Burleson once again. He emphasizes that little things count towards having deep runs and avoiding small mistakes can make all the difference when it comes down to tight matches.
The best-of-three series against Burleson begins on Thursday, May 11th, with games scheduled for Friday and Saturday if necessary. All games are set to start at 7 PM except for Game 3, which is scheduled for noon on Saturday. It is widely mentioned that, the Bearcats’ baseball team has been unstoppable so far and we can only wait with bated breath to see how they will perform against Burleson this week.
