Beginning tomorrow, PlayStation Remote Play will support streaming PS4 and PS5 games over mobile data, with a new update for the PS App planned later this month

The PS Remote Play will finally support streaming PS4 and PS5 games over mobile data. Until this, the console and PS Remote Play were limited to only work over broadband. The PlayStation App will be updated on September 23rd with support for sharing screen broadcasts together from the app.

Tomorrow, Sony will push out a major firmware update for the PS5 and the company announced updates for both the PS Remote Play (Free) and PlayStation App (Free) with the former seeing a big update tomorrow.

Sony is finally adding support for mobile remote play. PS Remote Play works really well over broadband so I’m excited to see how it ends up being on LTE/4G and higher.

If you play on iOS and are wondering which controller is best for you, read my updated 2021 iOS controller buyer’s guide covering the PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, and Xbox One controllers here covering PS Remote Play as well as native games.

You’ll take the following steps each time you connect to your PS5 console or PS4 console from your mobile device.

1.Turn on your console or put it into rest mode. Launch PS Remote Play on your mobile device, and then select Sign In to PSN.

2.Sign in with the same account that you use for your console. Select PS5 or PS4.

3.The app searches for the console that you’ve signed in to using your account, and then connects to the console automatically.

After it connects, the screen of your console displays on your mobile device and you can start using Remote Play. If multiple consoles are found, select the console that you’d like to use.
