Bezos received a space satellite for $28 million

The bidding process attracted interest from participants from more than 140 countries. The other two flight crew members on July 20 are Bezos’ brother Mark and an unnamed space tourist, the BBC reported. After nearly a month of bidding, the biggest bid was just under $ 5 million, but after the online auction began on Saturday, the price more than quadrupled. The amount will be donated to the Blue Origin Foundation – “ClubforFuture”, wrote the team of Blue Origin.

A mysterious buyer paid $ 28 million for a place in the first space flight of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with a space shuttle of the company Blue Origin, owned by the billionaire. The winning bid was made at the auction on Saturday. Blue Origin wrote on Twitter that the identity of the winner will be revealed in the coming weeks. Jeff Bezos’ fortune is estimated at $ 186.2 billion, according to Forbes. This makes him one of the richest people in the world.

“I will take this trip with my brother on July 20,” he wrote in an Instagram post earlier this week. “The greatest adventure – with my best friend.” Bezos’ brother described the planned flight as a “remarkable opportunity.” According to the Blue Origin website, the company plans to launch its passengers more than 100 km above the earth’s surface, allowing them to experience microgravity. The trip is expected to last about 10 minutes.

The New Shepard shuttle can land vertically on Earth after returning from space. This will be done with the help of parachutes. All this is planned to happen on July 4. In the meantime, however, another multimillionaire and pioneer in space tourism, Sir Richard Branson, could fly into space on the same date. He can join the test flight of his Virgin VSS Unity spacecraft on July 4.
