Game length of an open world title is a tricky subject because developers can implement padding to extend the time. Occasionally, this is a way to market the game as being full of content without having to describe the nature of these activities. Fans can rest easy knowing that Biomutant offers a route for both kinds of players. It sounds similar to Breath of the Wild, which gives gamers the option to take on the end immediately or spend time exploring. To add on to this, Experiment 101 refers to a team member who is playing through Biomutant as well. This developer is going through the game at a pace he would normally play these types of games. Apparently, he is still not done with the title and his playthrough is running on 65 hours. While vague on the specifics, it sounds like there is a fair amount to do other than the main story. Then again, using a team member’s playthrough as a reference for game time may not be convincing to some players. He may be more inclined to pursue side quests and exploration as someone helping with the game’s development. Gamers have no such commitment, and shallow side content will not convince them to stick around. Nevertheless, Biomutant could be the next big hit and fans will only need to wait a bit longer to find out if its worth spending time in.

GamingBolt asked a Biomutant developer how long the game is, and they responded by mentioning two different playstyles that can affect the length of this title. A “rushed” playthrough as Experiment 101 describes will last anywhere from 12-15 hours. This refers to any players who strictly play the story missions and interact with little else like Biomutant’s weapon building feature. This includes skipping through dialogue and passing on side quests, as well as going straight to any objectives. Since this title falls into the open world genre, many interested gamers will want to know how deep they can dive in. There is always the chance with this genre that the world is empty, or comprising of many repetitive filler activities. Since this is the first game by Experiment 101, players cannot rely on a past record as a basis. But from the interview, it sounds like Biomutant’s diverse locations will cater to both those who enjoy narrative as well as exploration fiends.
