Google unveiled the Nexus 5 in 2013 along with a brand-new launcher called the Google Now Launcher. It was previously known as Google Experience Launcher, and Android 4.1 or newer devices could download it from the Play Store.
Google Now Launcher provided access to the familiar cards structure and a stock Android experience when compared to other launchers at the time. In 2017, the tech juggernaut revealed that Google Now Launcher would no longer have access to Google Now because OEM partners already had it.
Despite receiving numerous updates via the Google app, the business is now concentrating on Google Assistant. The most recent beta of the Google Now Launcher now displays a message informing users that the service will be officially discontinued by the end of April. The device launcher will then switch to the default launcher at that point.
But avoid updating the Google App as doing so will update the launcher if you have an Android smartphone with Google Now Launcher and wish to keep things that way for whatever reason. Here are some of the top launchers available on Google Play in case you are wondering what to install on your Android device once Google Now Launcher stops functioning.
