Cloudflare recently released a tool called Is BGP Safe Yet. It allows users to check if their ISP has security against BGP hacking.
These improvements are most effective with widespread adoption by ISPs, content delivery networks such as Cloudflare and other cloud providers. Cloudflare estimates that about half of the internet has been better protected so far thanks to major hitters such as AT&T, Swedish telecom Telia and Japanese telecom NTT implementing BGP improvements. And while Cloudflare says it doesn’t seem like the Rostelecom incident is intentional or deliberate, Russian telecommunications have a history of suspected BGP interference, and similar issues will continue until the entire industry is on board.
Neither my ISP nor my VPN provider are protected from hijacking.
