Compendium of COVID-19-related Indian technologies launched

Dr. Shekhar C. Mande, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, DSIR, Govt, launched a “Compendium of Indian Technologies for Combating COVID-19 (Tracing, Testing and Treating)” produced by National Research Development Corporation (NRDC). from India at CSIR Headquarters, New Delhi.

The Compendium includes information on 200 COVID-19 related Indian technologies, ongoing research activities, technologies available for commercialization, initiatives and efforts of the Government of India categorized under 3T’s of Tracking, Testing and Handling. Most of these technologies have been proof-of-concept (POC) tested and can help entrepreneurs get the product to market faster because they don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Dr. Mande appreciated NRDC’s initiative to release the Compendium of Indian Technologies to Combat COVID-19 “because it is very timely and would benefit MSMEs, startups and the general public”.

Dr. H. Purushotham, CMD, NRDC, said team NRDC has attempted to collect the most relevant and emerging indigenous developed technological innovations, including those in the research phase, to gain the COVID-19 benefit from all Stakeholders and fighting this Compendium will serve as a reference point for policy makers, industries, entrepreneurs, startups, MSMEs, research scientists, scientists and others. He also said that several of the compiled technologies have been approved by ICMR.

The information in the compendium comes from various government agencies and leading academic institutions, including Department of Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) , Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Indian Institute (s) of Technology (IITs), Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Technology Development Board (TDB), National Innovation Foundation (NIF), Startup India and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
