Some parents actually will actually threaten their children or family members to scare them into not getting help, or try to make them believe that they are imagining it. These kinds of people are toxic and contribute to the growing numbers with mental illness that go untreated. It also would be helpful if there were more resources for people in need. Mental illnesses can be passed on through genetics, so another family member might suffer a different form of an illness. It should not be embarrassing to ask for help. Because of societal pressures, people often silently suffer if they’re afraid of reactions from others. Unfortunately, the longer these issues go untreated, the worse they become. Bipolar depression, schizophrenia and anxiety all are mental illnesses that affect everyday living.
