Demaryius Thomas Posthumously Elected to Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame
One week after being inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame, the late Demaryius Thomas has been honored again. Georgia Tech announced on Thursday that Thomas has been posthumously elected to the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2023.
The Yellow Jackets All-American catcher will be inducted on October 20th and will be recognized as part of the six-person class at halftime of Georgia Tech’s game against Boston College.
In his three seasons at Georgia TechThomas recorded impressive statistics with 120 receptions for 2,339 yards for 15 touchdowns and 19.5 receiving yards, including four games that were later vacated due to NCAA sanctions.
During his final season, Thomas recorded a career-high 46 receptions for 1,154 yards and eight touchdowns as the Yellow Jackets won the ACC Coastal Division title and the 2009 ACC Championship. He was named player Third-team All-American and first-team All-ACC as he averaged over 25 receiving yards.
Thomas’ performance during his time at Georgia Tech is still remembered by many fans. His outstanding achievement includes recording an incredible 230 receiving yards against Duke in 2008 which is still second-highest total in a single game in school history.
A native of Georgia, Thomas ranks among the top ten players in school history with career receptions, career receiving yards, career touchdown receptions, career hundred-yard receiving games, season receiving yards and consecutive games with a reception.
The Broncos drafted Thomas with the Collectively pick number twenty-two (22) in the NFL Draft held in April 2010. He went on to earn five Pro Bowl nominations and won a world championship while playing for Denver.
According to the news, Thomas’ induction into the Georgia Tech Sports Hall of Fame is a testament to his incredible talent and dedication to the sport. It is also a recognition of his invaluable contributions to the Yellow Jackets team during his time at Georgia Tech.
