News Highlights: Fewer pickpockets and home bulgaries while cybercrime is on the rise
In 2020 there were fewer incidents of traditional crimes, such as pickpocketing and house invasions. Cyber criminals, on the other hand, were considerably more active in the past year, according to Statistics Netherlands (CBS).
Pickpocketing has fallen by more than 47 percent in the past year to a total of about seven thousand incidents. The number of home invasions also decreased by 23 percent. The decrease was most evident in Amsterdam with a decrease of 29 percent. In total, just over 30,000 home invasions took place in the Netherlands in the previous year.
