She started her career as a nutritionist in the Women, Infants and Children’s nutrition division, which she later led as program director before becoming Allen County’s health commissioner in 2012. Luhn is set to retire from Allen County Public Health in September after 33 years with the health department.
Former health commissioner David Rosebrock held the position for 40 years. “Public health faces challenging times in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Fischer said in a statement Friday. “I am excited to assume this position as Allen County Public Health continues their efforts to contain the pandemic, and as we continue to provide essential public health services that protect and promote the health of all Allen County residents.”
