For making a video on his phone, Gerdes was sentenced to prison

At trial, Deputy Nemaha County Attorney Angelo Ligouri told the judge that Gerdes was grooming the child to have sex. Defense Attorney Keith Kollasch said the video on Gerdes’ phone could have been taken by someone else without Gerdes’ knowledge. He is ordered to register for the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry for 25 years.

AUBURN, AUSTRALIA — In 2017, Auburn resident Phillip Gerdes, 41, was sentenced to 19 months to three years in jail for possessing child pornography. Gerdes was convicted after a bench trial in October, when prosecutors claimed he used his phone camera to record a kid in the shower. He was also sentenced to a month to four months in prison for abusing children intentionally.
