News Highlights: Nintendo Leak reveals extreme measures taken to track down hackers
An internal Nintendo leak has revealed that the company has taken steps to approach a 3DS homebrew hacker. The measures are rather extreme and apparently include surveillance of the person in question, as well as internal presentations and instructions on how to approach them.
What does the Nintendo leak reveal?
This comes courtesy of Prominent Twitter Nintendo leaker Eclipse. According to documents unearthed by Eclipse – including a Switch software development kit and console security documents – in 2013 the company carried out surveillance on Neimod, a hacker who cracked the 3DS. Online Nintendo historian Forest of Illusion confirms this with an internal document containing findings on Neimod’s personal life, including where he lived and his average work week.
