Qualcomm has announced a $ 1.4 billion deal to acquire chip design company Nuvia, the fledgling company founded by Apple CEO Gerard Williams III, who has been the lead architect behind a variety of Apple CPUs and chipsets for years.

Nuvia was founded in 2019 by former Apple Silicone director Gerard Williams III, along with Manu Gulati and John Bruno. Williams was the lead architect behind several major Apple CPUs and chipsets from 2010 to 2019.
