According to official information from Google, Workspace is currently used by over 3 billion people worldwide. Previously, the package was known as G Suite. Users will now find an enhanced Gmail inbox with Google Chat in Workspace. The free version of Workspace includes smart suggestions in Gmail and Docs, as well as the ability to mention other users in the text of emails and add them to tasks.
Google has opened access to Workspace services to all users. Until now, web-based services could only be used by corporate users. A corporate account is no longer required to work in Google Workspace, Engadget reported. Additional features of Docs, Meet, Drive and other Workspace services are available completely free of charge. Users can also simultaneously edit a specific document in the chat, which is available to other participants (integration of Docs, Slides and Sheets).
In addition to integrating Chat into Gmail, Google has updated the Chat Rooms, which appeared in Gmail in July 2020, to become the new Spaces service. Google Meet video calls have also been improved with features previously available in Slack and Microsoft Teams. The service already has the so-called Companion mode, announced in May 2021 at the Google I / O conference.
Most of the basic features of Google Workspace are free. At the same time, Google is introducing a new tariff plan for services, called Individual, which is aimed at individual entrepreneurs. According to The Verge, the cost of the plan is $ 10 a month.
