Evers recently vetoed a package of bills that would have allowed the Legislature’s Joint Finance Committee in on the federal money. The Governor also rejected many of the GOP’s plans for the funds, including $1 billion in property tax refunds for residents, saying that method would not have given relief to those who need it most such as business owners and individuals who rent their buildings or homes. The quartet adds that they are willing to meet with Evers at the Capitol at any time “with reasonable notice,” adding that the information on how the federal monies will be spent is vital to the ongoing two-year budgeting process.
